Not everyone is built for the remote work life... you'll have some on your team. Here are some ideas to engage them in your online/virtual events.
The last thing you want is for a team member to disengage because your meetings or instructional activities are too tech-heavy.
But with remote meetings and activities becoming more and more common, how can you make sure these individuals don’t fall behind?
In addition to providing clear instructions (and even video tutorials), there are some pretty simple steps to take that will make a big difference.
Here’s what you can do:
Pair tech-savvy individuals with those who struggle so that they can learn from each other.
Be sure to include activities that don’t require excessive tech so that non-savvy members can focus on the task rather than the software.
Give non-tech savvy learners/team members roles like observers, scribes, reporters, etc., so that they can stay engaged without having to fuss too much with tech.
It’s important to consider the needs and abilities of all of your team members.
And team members who struggle with tech will appreciate the efforts you take to make sure they are included.
Have you used any of these techniques? How did they work out for your team?
