Team Building starts with the Analyse stage... good team building professionals nail this and their teams appreciate it!

There are five components to designing effective professional development materials. These include taking the time to analyse, design, develop, conduct, and evaluate.

Let’s take a look at the first one: analyse.

Analysis helps you determine what type of training or instruction is needed and who it is for.

Consider the driving force behind creating the materialsto help you home in on the scope and the delivery of the training.

It’s also important to know your target audience.As is true in marketing, having a clear target audience and designing your materials specifically for that audience means that they will be more effective, and your team members will be more engaged.

Consider the audience member’s learning styles, needs, and previous knowledge.Are the learners new to this subject? Do they have a little background knowledge? Are they already experts?

New learners will become easily overwhelmed if complex content is provided without sufficient supporting knowledge, and advanced learners will become bored if the content is too easy.

Both situations lead to disengagement.

So, when developing your learning materials, don’t forget to analyse.

Make sure the content you are creating will match your target audience and provide information that your team members need.
