Engagement is key to team building and learning... check out these three tips and ideas for better team building events

You know that it’s important to keep your team interested and engaged.

When they aren’t, their motivation and focus is low.

When they are, they are creative, inspired and collaborative.

I know which I’d prefer!

If you’ve noticed low engagement with your team recently, especially when it comes to learning environments, don’t worry.

Here are three engagement techniques to try with your team:

1. Fed by Twitter

  • This is great for large groups.

  • Set up a twitter feed on one screen and populate your presentation with a custom hashtag.

  • Have participants use the hashtag to interact with the lesson by sharing questions, anecdotes, and feedback.

2. Plickers

  • A scan-and-go tool that is free for “classroom teachers” up to 40 students.

  • Go to https://get.plickers.com

  • Students turn on their plickers (print your own or get some on Amazon.com) to show a code.

  • Each code is different depending on the slide you are showing.

  • You can scan the room with your device to tabulate the collective answers from your team.

3. Secret Fingers

  • Not everyone is comfortable raising their hand.

  • Instead, have your team vote using their fingers (1,2,3,4 = A,B,C,D) with their hands in front of their chests so that only you can see them.

  • This is great for heavy or controversial content or tentative learners.

What do you think of these techniques?

Which one will you try to increase learner engagement on your team?
