3 effective remote team-building tactics to increase engagement on your team

October 22, 20251 min read

Looking for remote team building ideas for your virtual team building event. Look no further - I got you covered.

If you are struggling to maintain team engagement through remote work, you’re not alone.

Many managers and team leaders find it a challenge to keep their team members engaged in an in-person work environment, and taking things online makes it even tougher.

It’s just harder to connect through a screen.

Thankfully, there are tactics you can use to boost engagement in a way that’s fun for your team.

Try these three effective remote team-building engagement techniques:

  1. Email a collection of emojis to your team members. Have them print them and use them to vote by holding them up to their cameras.

  2. Build a social stream for your team to connect with. Use Slack, a private Facebook group, etc., and share photos of personal successes or accolades.

  3. Lean into the camera when you speak and change up your volume. This makes your interactions more dynamic and likely to keep your team members' attention.

Keep in mind that not all techniques will work for everyone. So, if these worked with some members of your team but not others, no worries!

There are plenty of other methods you can use to increase team engagement.

In fact, I’ll be sharing three more in the next post.
